View Full Version : Shuttle audio problems
kwshipman 02-23-2005, 03:26 AM I just setup a Shuttle (this one (http://global.shuttle.com/Product/barebone/brb_OverView.asp?B_id=26)) and I can't get the audio to work.
I have double checked all the internal connections, used two working pairs of speakers, installed the audio drivers from the included CD and downloaded some from Shuttle's website. I wan't to use the connectors on the back, but I have tried the ones on the front and they don't work either.
I am using winXP home, Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB PC2700, GeForce 4 TI 4200. This is a fresh install after a full reformat of the harddrive.
Any ideas?

Both are good to go, but still no sound. I just went through the Windows troubleshooter and did everything they say, but that made no difference.

Is the sound card listed in the device manager?
Did you go to the manufactures web site and download the lastest driver?

I had something similar happen when I mis-connected the front audio connector from the mobo. Triple check it if you are using such connector after consulting the mobo manual.

yes and yes (it is the onboard audio, but it does show.)

I'll double check the internal connectors, but it doesn't work with the rear(onboard) connectors either.

okay, it was the connector. I was thrown because the front USB is in the same plug as the front audio, and the USB worked fine. The connector was not pressed all the way down on the audio side, but enough on the USB side for it to work. The rear audio ports didn't work because if the front connector is not being used then a set of jumpers muct be placed on the connector, which were not on so that I could plug in the front.
All is working now, thanks to both of you for giving suggestions. I had a feeling that it was going to be something simple like that. It is just hard to see and work in those small cases.
