Hi guys.
I know I am probably supposed to put these kind of threads somewhere else, but I don't know anyone out there, I only stay where its safe and warm here in the DSG.

Anyway, the fact is, I need help.

I have just bought a new Trust 1200 tablet. 'Yay!' I hear you cry, but alas, it doesn't work!

I am running Mac OS 10.2.8 and, as I have only just found out after getting back to the studio, it isn't compatible with 10.2.8, only 10.1. (You'd have thought they would have told me...)

Can anyone help? Is there a way around this problem or am I going to have to be tablet-less until they drag their asses into the 21st Century over at Trust??

Is there anyone out there with the same problem?

What do I do???

I can't go back to my Wacom the size of a wasps pillowcase! I can't!

Help me DSG, you're my only hope...

i think your best shot is searching the web for drivers for it:sad:

I looked around. It seems trust is selling the aiptek tablets under the Trust name. Apparently there is a hyperpen 12000U, it resembles your 1200. You could give it a whirl i suppose. No warranties it'l work though...

I had one of them aiptek tablets, a big one, and it broke down. I decided that I'd get a wacom tablet instead cause I figured it would last longer, but had to get a small one because of the price. Man, I couldn't believe how much easier drawing on the small wacom was compared to the big aiptek. The difference in quality made the size difference totally irrelevant. Anyway, hope you have better luck with your new tablet than I did with my old one.

You guys are ACE!

Art2, I tried that one you sent me but it seems to be the one that comes with it which only works with 10.1... (wierd!) Thanks a bunch though!!

Bytehawk, You beauty! That driver you recommended worked a treat and got the little blighter working.
The only trouble is, it will only draw straight lines in Photoshop etc. Is that what they mean by "this driver will only release the Absolute coordinate settings"...??

I have been using tablets for years and i wouldn't recommend anything besides the Wacom. They have been doing it from the very beginning and have also been the best at implementing all the customer feedback. But i will also add that i have never attempted to use anything else..

I can give some feedback on that :).
I had a Trust 1200 and it worked for me (when I got it to work :D). But after a while I tried out a Wacom tablet and WOW! was I blown away :P. It felt much better than the Trust. I thought the size would be a problem, but it wasn't a problem at all. It just feels right.

What is it they say? Don't trust a Trust, thrust a Trust :D

I made some search and it seems I can't find a decent driver. :/

Edit*

TheTon - It seems that you should return that Trust as soon as you can and get yourself a Wacom. It's probably the only way. :(

Well I will say one thing, the trust isn't to heavy in the pounds you pay for it department, but the old axiom, you get what you pay seems to be holding awefully true. Guess I shall just count my self fortuneate for my wacom intuos at work and my intuos 3 at home(best tablet ever, worth every cent).

The Ton,

I could be wrong here, buy have you removed your mouse from your system? If not try it.

I don't really get 'draws straight lines', do you mean it only sends the coordinates when you push down and again when you release the tip? Is it a setting in the driver panel?
Sorry I can't really help you out further, I wouldn't buy anything else than wacom (don't want to discourage you though).

Maybe the best thing to do is to repack everything, get it to the store and explain that it doesn't work with your PC, maybe exchange with a Wacom Graphire if budget doesn't strech that high.

Good idea by Bytehawk, hope the store carries Wacoms. Wacom is not as common as Trust.

I  my Graphire3!

Hey!
Thanks everyone for the help on this but I think I will just pack it up and send it back.
I have got a Graphire 3 which I think is great, but I was fed up with carrying it to and from home to work because it was getting damaged so I thought it was a good idea to get my work to buy me one...

I have always been frustrated with the size of the Wacom, and would prefer a larger one but now I can see why they are more expensive... I thought Trust would be the way, but if they can't even be bothered to cater for the Mac market, why should I waste my Mac money on them?!?!

Wacom, I'm sorry. The other tablet meant nothing to me! It was just a one night thing... Will you take me back?

Thanks again you guys!

TheTon

I'm atleast glad that you solved your problem in a way or the other. I'm glad that this tablet I use now happends to be an Acecad. I didn't know of Wacom when I bought mine, but this one works pretty well. :)

Phew Thanks Robin... she hadn't called.... hadn't texted.... hadn't replied to my messages...
I thought I'd lost her. But now we're back together...

Good news though folks, The guy that works with me has a mac with OS 9 and I have persuaded him to use it!

Another successful convert...

PS Thanx Roberto!
