View Full Version : Fluid Simulation
ErickG 09-17-2002, 04:53 AM Are there any options inside of max for doing simple fluid simulations. I have a simple shot of a large pot pouring out molten metal.
I could go the way of realflow but I was wondering if there was a way to do it all in max.

Mm, I don't think there is a proper way of doing it, no. But you can fake it. I've heard of people using morphtargets for these things, it can give a pretty good effect from what I saw. Essentially "just" make a mesh of the liquid in its start-form, copy it, do what you have to do (FFD modifiers springs to mind) to change it into the next stage of the water as it's pouring out, and morph from one to the next.
Oh, and using MAX5 you could set up a bunch of progressive morphs I suppose, to get some more life into the whole thing.
That's my two cents worth of suggestion anyways.
