Hi, I watched this one after the ShaolinKid and I'm most impressed :) I really like your style. It's really nostalgic...
Anyways, good job on the last shot (with the binding bright light) to end the clip. Your editing timing were right on too :)

Looks good, it really does. I wouldn't mind playing the game.
Btw, you should atleast leave a credit-mark for the music in this as it's from the Naruto-series. Naruto - Ost 1 - Track 07 - The Raising Fighting Spirit :)

hehehe yeah i didnt want to say that cause i dunno if its legal to put some naruto songs in it so i didnt want to put the attention on that too much :P
that game could have been very good but we only had a year and no preproduction so it couldnt get really better..
For the codecs, i encoded it with tmpeg xpress in mpeg4
If you want to watch it, maybe you can download a mega codec pak from the the net but watch out cause some contains virus n stuff :S sorry im not very good with codecs but ill put the divx version instead pretty soon :)

I don't think it's so dangerous using the music if you're not getting money on it. I just thought that you could add it if someone wants to know what song it is. :D
Btw, me and my friends at school are currently making a game with, um, 2 month's left? We started planning one month ago and the GDD (Game Design Document) shall be sent at friday. Will be fun to see where this ends. XD
Edit*
Btw, what programs are you using for the animation? Are you using any else for the modelling and rendering as well? (Thought of your other clips on your site) :)

heyoo!
Thats a good suggestion to add some credits to naruto soundtrack, cause i really respect it and i dont want people to think i made music myself...
Also, just a note, i must edit the part when i write "every sTrike animations were made by me" cause its only the animations in the clip, not aaall animations in the game :P
I used 3dmax for animating and the rest comes from the game engine, developped at
digital-fiction by the programmers that worked here.
Yo thats pretty cool your game project, i would like to know what kind of game it is!
Also would like to know how you found your programmers, dudes that program for free are hard to find :P
If anyone here like 2d Combat games, try mugen if you havent aleready! Its pretty simple to know how it works, dont need programation skills and they are many files/tutorials you can get for free
http://www.streetmugen.com/mugen-us.html
That link is french only but theres many others in english where you can know bout it.
You can add characters, modify them or create an all new and add it on your selection screen, ready to fight against any character imaginable :) Free of course
I started to render sprites from the shaolinkid and he was able to stay idle, punch, kick and make an HadoOOOoKen! :D
Right now im playin streetFighter 3rd Strike and its very cool :) nyways, Thanx for comments sorry for that long post :P

I can't say too much about our game. It's a little bit dorky in my opinion. But I can atleast say that you are a viking and something about mead. :D
Everyone that is developing the game is taking the same class at school. So, programmers were not hard at all to find. ;)
Questions:
1. As you used 3dsmax, did you use anything else than the standard rigging? Like using Character Studio? :)
2. This one feels quite stupid to ask... Anyway, when animating for a game, for example in 3dsmax, can you rigg the character with all the custom stuffs like ik-solvers and so on and later on export it for the game? I mean, do you need to remove all the custom stuffs except the bones before exporting, or does it disappear by itself?
I need to get clear on this one as I'm a beginner at animation (3d) and I'm the one who needs to do all the character animations for our game. :arteest:
3. Do you have any tips of how I SHOULD start when animating the character? I mean, start with the feet or whatever. It would be even better if you could recommend some good tutorials. :)
I'm sorry if these questions feels off-topic. :hmm:

Yoo!
I hope i wont get sued for giving that information but we used Character studio (CS)
to animate the characters :S i dunno very much bout rigging and importing animation stuff into the engine since i was only an animator here ..
Importing CS in The engine worked pretty fine and bones worked too. You must check with your programmers what kind of interpolation you should use when animating bones cause some crappy bone flicking may occur :S check if TCB or Euler works best
For other things such as Mesh Scaling, morphs or deformable mesh and other stuff, i think you'll need your programmers to create tools so you can import them in the engine...
When animating a strike, i usually start by setting the animation duration, then i had the idle pose at the start & end of the animation. Then i try to make a Strong pose when the contact occurs. After that i Make a strong pose of anticipation before the strong pose. where you place those poses depends of the timing you want!
What i mean by strong poses is a pose that have a Very action-Dynamic silouhette :D
Thats the pose to pose way to do it, but you can do it progressively, adding keys as you go foward animations but for a strike move, since i made many of them, the pose 2 pose way was very fine for me :) For movement , animating the center of gravity helps having a base for distance and movement your character will make. Then you can adjust up n down, then legs, arms, spine and head.
For the animation tools and engine, guess you should check more videogame/programmation oriented forums, but theres a game development section in CGtalk :)
Dunno if you know about blitz but its a tool to make video games and on their website they are forums with people discussing game development issues so it may help you :)
Nyways, feel free to ask!
