View Full Version : Piggy
Onethread 02-21-2005, 12:51 PM I just finished this little fun animation. I got the idea when I modeled the pig for the <400 points challenge at Spinquad.
The terrain and the flower have also less than 400 pts. Only the guides for the grass have ~10000.
Enjoy!

Hey!
I liked it, its quick and funny:)
The sound ii cool and the grass is awesome. How you made it?
The pig looks like he doesnt have a very complex rigg setup so it cant move alot, like his arms dont really move and his head neither. It looks like only the nose is skinned!! :P
But its like you said a fun animation :)

They have a challenge over at Spinquad to make something nice with less than 400 points in the mesh. So after modeling the pig I could've put this little fellow into the drawer and let him catch some dust. But I liked it and so I threw a few bones for basic animation in and there you have it. So it was reallly just for my own fun. I wanted to give this little pig a meaning of life you know, there a so many unfinished and forgotten models on the hard-disks of us 3D-people... so this pig had a purpose :)
You're right, there's a bone in the nose, but there are also some spines in the back (but I didn't animate them) and bones in the legs (without knees only a straight strut).
The grass is made with Saslite (Sasquatch lite - ships with Lightwave). But to animate it I had to raise a few guides (2point poly chains) for the "hair" (when hair is green it might look like grass :) ).
First i gave it a displacemant map for the light wind effect.
Then I used hard body dynamics to let the pig drive away the guides - and Saslite applied the grass to them as they move and fall.
With the retail version of sasquatch you can do even more funky things, using weightmaps for distribution and such alike. But in this little piggy scene everything's "native" Lightwave direct out of the box.
