Here is what i got on my attempt:

My main problem is the 1/2 reflection and shadow part.

you'll need reflection mappings. or you model and texture all the reflected stuff outside :) and use raytracing
just get you material from the cubes, apply an environtment ball and then a reflection map image file to the env ball. now play with the reflectivity of the shader.

you need to have some bevel on your objects for it to really work otherwise it's very difficult to get any nice highlights unless a light is directly over a surface, even a microbevel will help. use an environmental map if i were you, and a nice high but sharp specular. then raytracing on for reflections...

how exactly would i do a bevel? do i have 2 use curves? cause when i try, it says use a NURBS curve. and thx for the help:buttrock:

The easiest way for what you appear to be modelling would have been to use polygons cubes with single poly faces... then it's very easy to bevel, just select all the face components and extrude and scale the faces out.

sorry if im being a pain but how do i add an environment map. is it like importing a picture in as a background. im a bit confused here.
