The red one is to be modeled, I created a cube and extruded it then put it under a hypernurb, but the joint part is ugly. how should i do to make the joint part smooth like the red sample? Thanks.

Your need more cuts (red), then you need to possition them so they are circular, then you need more cuts (blue) and possition to give the joining and merging effect.

wouldn't you want to use primitives to do that? With boolean operations, then make editable to refine?

boolean will make object lots of triangles like the pic shows.

How's this?

Same way as you HyperNurbs but with more subdivisions.

Can send you the file if you like.

Mike.

My way will give you points down the middle of the joints to allow for that filleting effect around the centre. Sorry I don't have time to knock one up right now. As I said, you will need more cuts and due to the increased subdiv you will need to arrage the points to create the circular tubes right from the start....here what I mean.

....and I was just about to send you the file......oh well. Heres the pic, not perfect, very rushed, but the basic idea is there.

ok...i understand slouchcorp method which is what i would have attempted.
but i can't understand what you mean neilyb...not because you explained it particularly badly just i don't understand what you mean by cut? If you do it the other way you can add weight by more subdivisions. From what I can tell in neilyb's pic he can also add more weight to the cross-pipe thingy but from the edge eg Red arrow/line. Are you talking about 5 objects and joining them together...each 4 outer pipe fittings connected to a centre hub bit?
Can you please clarify...sorry! DUH.
thanks for your time.

Sorry to confuse anyone......when I say cut I really meant start with a cube of 2x2x2 subdivs...

Glad you get it though! Please post your results!
