I call this one the Anvil, this has been a work in progress for a few months. A bit of lazyness kicked in. Well mostly my kids have been keepin me busy. Its been awhile since I really posted here.

This is a Rhino3d Nurbs model. I've built up the shape from a network of curves and surfaced them. I'm currently working on the interior walls around the cabin area.

I'll post some Brazil renderings when I get to it, I have a few test renders I might post later, but the for the most part they are Brazil photon study renders.

well you can go to my website and see a pile more of the work in progress images. But this is the latest I have on it. Far as modeling goes.

these are scene captures from Rhino3d v3

the main page.
the new webpage is a work in progress also.
only a few buttons work

... thanks for any comments or suggestions.. lets see if I can finish her on this 3 day weekend.

well back to wathin Sponge Bob. :D

Could we see a smooth shade shot as well to get more of an idea how the exterior surfaces are shaping up so far? :bounce:

i'll upload some more in a few minute, some brazil renders I did the other day.

then I'll hop on my machine and see if I can get the model detailed.

the mesh resolution isn't so hot tho, was testing a new export method to me. Obj files work a little bit different, But I think I got a handle on it now.

Plus I had been practicing all the Brazil tut's on the brazil server. really think I have a handle on the Photon mapping.. just need to apply it to this model soon.

leme go get them for ya. :D

Hey Wyatt, nice car.

I only think that the back is too square, I mean the edges that meets with the sides. I have theses hard edges too on my car and I am trying to round them a bit.

Other than that, I find the rims too much "insided". Maybe are them tmeporary?

Anyway, keep posting (especially shaded renders ;) )

I happen to like this one to be hard or squared off, I was thinking possibly to pipe and trim and blend it together, maybe like 3 or 4 inches of radius.

yeah those are the wheels, I like them like that usually. Personal preference I guess.

here are a couple of test renders I did.. nothing to exciting.. more polies and lots of Brazil editing to do.

and finally here I go on getting into the deep areas of the car to get interior and body shut lines and other interior surfaces integrated, head liner done, now have a black front window frame and a interior flooring and back wall, and doors are modeled up, I might redo the detailing of the door to integrate speaker in there.

starting to join up body panels and soforth, just added a few more pannels inside and the foot scuff pad with the word anvil cut into it.

Hi EighthDecay,

Great job on the model so far :) Cant wait to see more updates. Did you began this car design with sketches ... if yes Can I see some ?

I am interested in Automotive design too. And doing some design of wheels right now. I plan on doing a car soon.

Real nice work, mind telling me how you got both sides of the car to look exactly the same, or did you just mirror it?

EighthDecay
02-20-2005, 05:06 PM
illmatic:: yep I mirrored it, pretty simple. :D

Bla999:: yeah I sketched some ideas out for the general shape I wanted or a detail I want to evolve in 3d, but this is mostly an evolution of my last few designs. I can visually design in CAD views, since I have been doing so for about 15 years or so at work and in school. When I sketch I'll do so either on a white board or small pads of paper, usually just an idea of how the surfaces sweep from front to the rear. allot of the designing goes on in my head when in traffic and soforth and build up some ideas and then I go model the network of curves.

thanks guys,

I'll be adding to it shortly, finish the dash and heating/cooling vents that will be then integrated with exposed tubes.

got the rear engine clam shell made, now I just need to finish a few more interior parts and then insert a engine, going to place one I made before in there.

Looks awesome! to a fellow rhino user!

few little details to go and I'll call it done. all the interior surfaces should be done, just need to make wheel wells and other front and rear pannels, then I'll insert the engine.

thanks yobarman, :D

interesting concept, but that whole rear part is too 'high' imho.. that's only my opinion.. anyway, there's somethin' strange on your test renders, don't know,if it's low polycount while exporting or anything else, but the point is, i prefer clean wires and that's what i can't see on your pics.. appreciate, you're analyzing with env map, but can you show zebra analyze? i'm curious for your curvature, cause your wires really don't look much clean..

EighthDecay

furo: your probably correct on the side of the car, But I think it exported ok to MAX, currently rendering it with brazil, current face count is 2,015,108

my PC is crankin on it hahaha,, always love to try and push to the limits. 1ghz with 300mb or so.. really need to upgrade, got the nice stuff at work tho, I'll probably take it there to do more renders.

I'll see about getting a zebra after a few renders.

thanks for the input,

it's quite a lot polys imho, you've got not much details there,so maybe you should check some settings there (my hummer with all that details is 5.260.000 poly.. and should be rendered in scale 1:1 to original vehicle. yeah,i'll wait for that zebra, but i'm sure the best show of zebra is motion in viewport, static image is not much helpful.. but,we'll see.. ow hell, that hardware is not enough,uff.. but if there's possible to rotate in viewport, who cares, right? anyway, good luck with that, i like your concept much (that rear part is not of my taste,but... i just like it for sure) and appreciate NURBS for your work. so,keep up a good work.

EighthDecay
02-21-2005, 11:47 PM
yep your right, so this morning I exported all the small interior things at a new resolution.

800k poly is much better. :D

soon you'll see the supercharger I used on my OZO concept, and the little stuff inside, like the speedo and tac.

now I just need to dial in the color I want for this.

I'll post some more soon.

some new pic's

been fighting with brazil,, still need to edit the settings.

looks nice man, somehow the last 2 renders make the car come out more round and smooth, dig that man,....

EighthDecay
02-25-2005, 04:22 AM
couple more renders, going to do some more parts to finish this one off,

Spoiler
Door Handles
Clean up the shut lines in areas, (needs more thickness)
New side window design,, this just isn't working for me.. but I have naother idea
add company logo and name.
add a small antena module on the rear deck,, shark fin, either that or on the roof top.

then I'll color it in a dark charcoal, with dark red stripes that start at the front wheel arch and turn into the middle of the windshield and run to the rear.

well some of the ideas I'll incorporate.

Great car... I love it... you wouldn't want to take anything like that near a bumpy road though...

EighthDecay

Here is a peak at the motor and door open..

thanks DKR and Sabaman

I think that the engine is too small. And I dont like the rims. Just my 0.02$ :)

furo
02-26-2005, 09:48 PM
Pavel is right, engine is too small imho too.. rims are fine for me.. nice style.. just keep workin', i can see you're going for some serious details there.. keep it up

EighthDecay

well I just got all my children in bed, time to solve all them issues.. hehe

thanks Pavel and Furo, I was thinking the same thing about the motor, I actually scaled it all down to fit in there, But I think in the process the I lost sight of the engine size, yeah that 3.5 liter v8 would be cool, but wouldn't a 6 liter be cooler.. hahaha.

I'm also going to route the intake to a box like funel that will go to the rear deck grill area. that will fill out the area above the wheel wells.

I'm stickin with those wheels :p
just going to try a few different colors on it.
