View Full Version : 1 sec pauses...
spirogyro 02-19-2005, 08:48 AM ok here are my specs:
CPU: Athlon 3500+
Mobo: Asus AV8 deluxe
Ram: 1gig Corsair XMS(2x512)
Vid Card: Gigabyte nvidia 6800gt
I'm experiencing these pauses occasionally between tasking, almost as if the computer freezes for a second. It seems to handle up to 500,000 poly's in Maya and renders decently. What could those pauses possibly be from?

Hmmm...believe it or not ..those pauses usually originate from the raid Serial ATA controler ...u need newr drivers for it....(assuming your motherboard has SATA..if not ..sorry...maybe u should check your memory ...)

Pauses when rendering?
Pauses when workign in Maya?
Pauses when just messing around in Windows at random times?
Pauses when doing one specific thing?
More info needed - without info, could be anything (but my guess is HD).

i had that happen because i did not have the latest motherboard drivers... something similar to the VIA Hyperion drivers might help u here. A chipset driver maybe.

The pauses usally happen when I open or close programs. I also noticed that it takes like 30-40sec to close windows after I press the turn off button.?.? It didn't take that long on my old computer.

have you looked for an integrated chipset driver yet?

yep. It's for the motherboard's chipset. Just go to the manufacturer's website and look for drivers for the board. U might find an integrated chipset driver.

If you have IDE drives, I know off a similar sounding problem that was resolved by changing to 80 pin cables from the old 40 pin IDE!

That will also occur if someone is remotely taking screenshots of your copmputer...
