View Full Version : Applying Depth of field
Br0nZiLLa 09-16-2002, 12:41 PM I have searched the forum as hard as i did with the manual, no result.
I heard it is quite a trick in this package..
How do I achieve it?
THanks in advance.

In the render setting you have to add the option Depth of Field in the effects panel. Also, you have to tell the camera to use DOF. Best to save a multilayer file, with a DOF layer so you can play around with it a little......v7 DOF is not the nicest! But V8.........we cannot wait!
The R7 DOF works not correctly. This effect is visible as long as you use low resolutions. If you use higher resolutions, this effect disappears more and more. The advanced renderer module of R8 contains a very good DOF. It's even visible behind transparencies and alpha maps.
I use mutli PSD and save a depth channel, then use the depth channel for blurring in PS.I also find the depth channel is brilliant for making the beginning of an alpha channel for you if you have rendered with a sky object which negates the alpha effect really :)
Another excellent dof effect can be had by using the Praline shader FOG if you have it.

I prefer this choice: Lenscare, simply amazing! www.frischluft.com (or wait for R8 new dof)
