I need to know what graphic mode i should use on 3dmax 7/5 for better and faster results and render.

And i am currently equiped with a computer with these craps:

P4 2.8 ghz
256 mb ram
geforce 5700 LE 256mb
maya 4 and 5
3dmax 5 and 7

is my gefroce card any good? can anyone recommend what hardware i should use like processor, rams, VGA cards etc. to render things faster in my cpu!!
and my last question if i kept 4 gb of ram instead of 256 mb will it make my rendering process any faster??? please anyone reply fast im lacking brains here.:buttrock:

I work freelance with the following:

Asus A7A266-E (Ali chipset my friend).
Athlon thunderbird 1.2 to 1.37.
Sdram 133 to 138 1gig (no DDR).
two 40gig hardrives (Samsung and maxtor) run O the mill.
Nvidia 5700le256 @ 400core 498mem (slower than my rad8500 at stock).

And I ain't crying (just whining a bit).

If you can't work with your mobo, the problem probably resides in your use of lighting (limiting fields, using the right shading technique) and polygones (kill kill those unused polygones)...

I'm rendering 9500 m2 of outdoor scene (1.140 000 polygones) with shading (raytrace) in about 8/10 minutes, but my mobo tends to snatch and lock a lot when moving the cameras.

Next week i'll be doing La defence for an outdoor festival, 30 000/50 000 m2...

I'll post pics as soon as NDA's permit.

Good luck.

I think you're getting mixed up on one thing: VGA cards and graphics modes have nothing to do with your rendering speed. That is all CPU/RAM. Messing with your graphics card and graphics mode will only alter your viewport performance. That being said, I've never used a geforce card, so I don't have many tips for getting the most out of them.

Ram, lots more ram. 1GB would be a good start. Try that before upgrading anything else.
