View Full Version : CgTalk Daily Sketch 258 "Jealousy...":Pablo Picasso Style
RobertoOrtiz 02-18-2005, 02:21 PM "Jealousy... :Pablo Picasso Style
Inspired by augustus
The several manners I have used in my art must not be considered as an evolution, or as steps toward an unknown ideal of painting. When I have found something to express, I have done it without thinking of the past or future. I do not believe I have used radically different elements in the different manners I have used in painting. If the subjects I have wanted to express have suggested different ways of expression, I haven't hesitated to adopt them." Pablo Picasso.
Let’s try to illustrate an image emulating the style of a famous painter (But it is OK if you want to ignore this rule.)
I have selected one of the most powerful artists of the 20th century Pablo Picasso.
I love his work because I he was a master of all the mayor art movements.
From realism to cubism, and even photography (painting with light!) the man mastered them all. He is one of the few master artists form the 20th century that, in my opinion, would have embraced computers if he had lived long enough.
Here are some reference of his artwork for reference purposes:

I just got it jånnis. Very good.
Awesome work as usual Andrewley
This was so enjoyable. I think I've seen half of his paintings (http://69.42.87.196/cgi-bin/v40/ezlclk.fcgi?id=7094) as a kid. Used to hate him after that but man he's cool again.
45min Photoshop (MS Paint 5min) (Mouse)

for the record: i didnt mean a word from it. Perhaps i should sketch a character in front of it or make another, less provocative, painting.

Heres mine:
Photoshop 7, About 45 mins... I took this idea more from his "blue" period... but instead it is Green, for jealousy.

Art2 - Thanks. It's all because of the Daily Sketch Group and all the great people here. Making myself draw everyday and seeing what you and all the other great artists here are doing has got me more inspired to draw than I've been in a long time. Just like my sig says. I really am addicted to this forum.

OpenCanvas for initial sketch and coloring. Ported into GIMP for texturing and some color processing, total time, about 1.5 hours.

Octothreat, I really like your color usage in your second post, very moody.
Zebula, your sense of solids is clearly shown! Apparently, this style suits you well.

I would be very curious seeing a Picasso style image of you, Enayla :) But I don't feel so "painter-ly" today either, though it's interesting to see what everyone here does. I love this Daily Sketch Forum, discovered it just a few days ago <3

Same here, I think the best part is that you can post your picture even if it stinks, I mean it's "just" a sketch. I find it hard to post in the final forums because I'm never satisfied with my work. I'll try to improve on that and post more.
thnx guys!
nice one Augustus!
