I am having an interesting problem when using physique. When I arc rotate in any of the sub objects, the mesh dissapears when I stop rotating, then re-appears when I start to rotate again?.

It also only seems to happen in the User viewport. Perspective and the standard front side etc seem fine? It is almost like there is some little switch I am missing that would turn this on/off, It has happened when I am setting up "attatching to node" and is handy, but now it is just crazy.

No one has been able to help yet, so any input would be great.

Could it be the adaptive degradation button? Sounds like it.

I ve had to stop using character studio since i started using max 5(which is by no means a bad thing as bones and spline IK are great).

biped was doing weird things it never used to do and as soon as i was physiquing anything my mesh kept flashing on and off.....active degradation is definately not the problem here...

Yeah, sorry on the delayed reply. That is exactly what is happening here. Only I am not yet using Max 5, still on four. I have found that using a perspective view rather than user works okay, although that has its own problems.

thanks for trying guys.

When that happens to everything you do, it is usually a Hardware Overlay convict. I used to get in Maya and Soft 3D.

Are you using OpenGL  or Direct X :thumbsdow

Hey Skunk - which Cel Shader did you use for the little pic under your name?

I'll have to go with Gonzo The Great on this one. Try OpenGL and see if that fixes your problem.

Open GL was also my first point of call, however it did not work, and the error is only limited to what I have detailed above. I am using Open GL but have tried other configs. I have also opened the file on other PC's, same prob :(

You said it does the same thing on other machines... then it is possible it is a Preferences / Customize / Viewport Setting option because apart from the GUI Theme, the majority of custom-settings are saved with the MAX file.

OH ! OH ! I JUST RE-READ YOUR ORIGINAL POST ( I SUPPOSE THAT HELPS ABIT, HEY ?) I GET THE SAME THING...

... I just didn't realise what you're complaint was because I actually like when the mesh disappears. I'm sorry, I think it's programmed this way and with no options to alter. When you rotate the perspective or user view in Sub-Object mode (such as Bulge) it's purpose is to let you see your Cross-Sections and Vertex Controls. How fast is your machine. I have a Professional graphics card and the arc-rotate is fast which is why I have no probs with thing. Although... I just hate Bulge altogether! I can never get a nice crease with my F$%^ing characters.
