I've made a face texture composed of two textures in a Mix material. I would like to use a different 'shiny' material for the lipstick. Whats the best method for creating this?

use a specular map

I have a specular map and I made it so the lip area is completely white (the rest 50% grey). I don't like the results. I would really like to use a different shader altogether on the lips.

I wouldn't make it white, I would use lightish grey for the lips and the rest a darkergrey, the less shiney you want a spot to be the darker you make the specmap in that area.

you could always make a new material for the lips [using a multi-subobject material] but that would result in a very sharp edge between the lips and the rest of the head materialwise

or, turn the material into a blend material. Keep what you have as one material, and make the second material your lip material.

now you can set the mask as either a bitmap to mask out the lips, or, just paint it into a vertex colour channel and set that as your mask.

although i don't know why you don't just make it one map like was suggested. usually I'll only use multiple maps to clean up dodgy mapping and getting rid of seams.
