I think there is a complete tutorial of that over at C4D cafe - it should give you what you need.

either load it up as a texture placed on a plane ( flat mapping).
OR go to Configure View ( sft+V) > Back> Image... pick your image. Thisonly works if you are in a 2d view.

Hi ArtofacksOne,

check this one at c4dcafe.com:

Tutorial for setting up background images (http://www.c4dcafe.com/portal/article_showall.asp?cat_id=26&parent_id=7&parent_name=Modeling&sub_name=Setting+up+reference+images)

that one should help. You have to become a member but it's free and they have tons of cool tuts for beginners.

All the best, FRitz

cool thanks, right after that i tried making a material then choosed color and browsed and got image than map the magterial on plane seem ez enough just wanted to make sure that its the correct way. I come from Maya and some Strata 3d bkgrnd which i am transitioning over. I just love the community support for c4d and the highlist of plugs being made just awesome. I would love to see c4d with nurbs more like in the fashion of maya that would be great. Thanks guys for your help I appreciate it.
