:)
I've heard so many times that it's the artist and not the tool, fair enough but when we all have the same (substandard) tool, how would we fare?

This is why I've posted this thread-- I want everyone to submit their 'microsoft paint' works, (Equivalent in Macs welcome too, of course)

The only rule is that they should take under 1 hour and have no more than 600 x 800 aspect ratio, like the daily sketch group.

Here's mine:

40 mins, mouse and Microsoft paint....:) Come on, the rest of you.... P.S-- If this thread is in the wrong place, I apologise and will move it. But for now, I'm not sure where it should go.

Very nice work for paint. Sorry I didn't post anything. I suck at painting, lol.

Not a lot of time to doodle at the moment.. here's a couple.. total time is less than 5 minutes for both together.

This thread sort of reminds me of the good ol days of the Notepad vs Lightwave threads...

I just did one but I forgot my ftp passwords, can't get to my internet space right not. Doesn't really matter, it was 30 min work with 1 size brush and I was too lazy to change the color. Oh and I don't have a wacom here so I had to do it with a rotten tomato.

this should be cool in the sketch group :)

...The only rule is that they should take under 1 hour and have no more than 600 x 800 aspect ratio, like the daily sketch group...Yes, but what about those people who do not own a watcom table? I think it would be much more challenging to limit it to just mouse usage.

(After all it's the artist, not the tools. Right?)

Perhaps this should be moved to the sketch forums. :)

Great work so far!! This would be fun if we could try and get all the masters involved....send the word out?

I do think we should update the 'rules' to say that only mouse works will be 'accepted'. That way we can see how far skill vs. tools can take us. I mean, if we are all using the same tools......

Can you see my picture above? I can't seem to get it to come up on my computer. Just wondering if others can.

Great work everyone so far!! I think this is a really fun thread so far.

MS paint has the best brush selection ever!
It even has calligraphic brushes... :p

If any mods would like to move this to the 2d/wip forum, please do so!!

ha, this is great paperclip. When I was a kid, you better believe I was addicted to MS paint!
I just wish all the ancient stuff wasn't deleted. I'm sure there is some one here with the same story.

I made this a while ago (as a sketch for the Alienware competition), but I did do it in less than an hour. Done with a mouse...no wacom for me yet :(

~1hr 15min (those pixels on the vehicles are difficult to click on after 30 min :D )

This is my first post of a quick drawing on cgtalk. I really liked the idea behind this thread, paint is great for making quick drawings for tech docs but its so old school :)
Sorry for the low rez jpeg...it appears to be only what paint will allow me to do other than a large bmp file or an odd color gif
cheers!

Korgano, that's why I opened the bmp, I made in Paint, in PShop and saved that as a gif.
.... uhmmm is that cheating? :)

Great one, Art2. Amazing what you can do with 100% opacity and 9 brushes, isn't it?
Not including the wonderful 'airspray' effect, you really made it look good there!!

Art2

yeah, it's really fun to do actually

Ahhh what the hell!

Here is my effort,it took the gut's of an hour, and I am typing this by poking the keyboard with a pencil in my mouth as my hand seems to have seized up for some reason!
Done with a mouse or should I say a brick! using just the paint brush.

Great work everyone, you all deserve a pat on the back and a finger massage after that.
