View Full Version : Texturing the face

There she is... Anyway I still have a long way to go...but I thought I'd do her eyelashes soon... obviously I want to use alpha masked eye lashes, but the question is:
"Should I weld the eyelashes into flat polygons, or should I keep them as they are and just bring the two sides really close to each other."
It almost seems obvious but I want to know if anyone has tried eyelashes and how they made them work.
Thanks!
Adrian
PS... any advice for the colormap on the face?

I have never tried eyelashes before Adrian, but I think I would have them as part of the mesh itself {painted on} that way if you move the eyebrows everything else moves as well and you dont have a second movement to sort out as one follows the other :)
For the skin does it have some noise added?
Janine Pauke has some good color advice for skin you can find here bud :)

Thanks for the link, Stu!
here's what I've managed to work up from the last post... I fixed the lips, got rid of the eyelashes (will add in some flat eyelashes...)

Not tried this but adding Chanlum in the bump channel will give a nice fine texture. You could add this to any part of the face using proximal.....? Just a thought.
Skin looks good
The tip of the nose still needs a little bit of work.Grab a mirror and examine your own nose and then compare what you see to your model :)

Good call w/ the nose! I hardly noticed that!
Chanlum... he he he he... I love that plugin but I have no clue how it works! Which is obviously unfortunate on my behalf because I think it would look really good with this model.
Using Chanlum in the bump channel.. wow.. I wonder how that would look! (Like a furry carpet? he he he)

I'm having a pretty hard time getting Chanlum to work... Quite frankly, I haven't even quite figured out how to access it in C4D... I put it into C:\Program Files\C4D\Plugins ... other plugins work... but I don't know what I'm doing wrong with Chanlum.
Speaking of plugins... does anyone know what spacemouse does???
Thanks everyone!
