Hey, maybe a lot of you know that already, but Discreets Support page for 3dsmax is really great. I rarely checked that site in the past, but yesterday i was searching for some info about max7.5 and stumbled upon that. It has a pretty large knowledgebase and faq that covers a lot of problems that are posted in this forum (again and again). Especially for newcomers, this should be the first place to go.

...and if you already knew that, just ignore me ;)

I think both sites are very usful. I'm a moderator on the Discreet site and have been for years. I actualy learned Max through that site and have met and now worked with many people from that board. One thing I have always like about it is that it is 100% professional. People can't hide behind fake names so it keeps the rifraff out. how I got in I will never know.

how I got in I will never know. yeah right mr neale! ;)

the option to use the ASP version is good because it loads faster than the older one. I used to hate as it took forever to refresh and display in the old layout.

I will say that if you're into scripting, they really are fantastic on the discreet board. i used to read that all the time when i was learning the basics and it really helped me.

For scripting it is the only source. Not only will you get the likes of Bobo answering your questions, if you have a real tough on you might even get the developer of max script himself, Larry Minton.

There are also other boards that might be of interest to others here that are trying to go beyond the base package and write plugins. There is a sparks program where developers can ask questions and get answers from Discreet on programming.
