Hi guys.

Iím working in a chubby teddy bear, and I have the weights working ok for the body, except for the belly :\.

When this guy bends, I wanted the belly to slide out, like it should normally do, and what happens, is when he bends I lose a lot of volume.

Iíve tested some usual deformers like the Jiggle deformer, but that doesnít help me with the volume.

Now Iím trying to come up with some influence object that I can set driven key to.

Iím just wondering what workflow you guys would do for this.

Here is some shots.

Now the problem is when bend side ways and down :|

the answer to ur problem is Michael Comet's Pose Deformer http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/
heres more info on how to use it, http://www.tokeru.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/MayaRigging
We've had some fantastic results using this tool. After u use this for the belly, throw on some softbodies for the jiggle.
cheers

Something I like to do is I would make a nurbsSphere and shape it like the inside of the belly. Skin that so the skel also deforms it. Because it is a spherical shape to begin with, when it deforms or bends, it will maintain a lot of its volume. Then I use it as an influence object for the belly area and paint the weight. If you want, you can apply blendshape on that sphere as well to get the exact affect you after.
