View Full Version : Intersection Snapping in C4D ?

Hi !

I can find a lot of good snapping possibilities in C4D. However I cannot enable or find "Intersection Snap" This is used when you want to snap to locations in your scene where 2 splines or objects intersect relative to the camera view. Snapping to intersections is possible for example in Rhino. Maybe I missed something but is there Intersection Snappping available in C4D?? If not, does anyone know of some handy plugin that makes this possible?

Cheers / Alex

it is missing in cinemas snaps.

as i said before i wished maxon would update/ improve the snap functionality so that it is on par with apps like rhino(excellent snaps)

the workflowis already updated in 9.1( just press p), i hope in 9.2 we will see an improved snapping.(also with snapp previews)

cheers

The work around that I use ( it is tedious sometimes though) is to "snap to spline" then use the knive to cut through one spline while snapping at the other, this way you get a new point at the intersection, that you can snap to with point snap.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for your replies.
Isn't it amazing how useful a seemingly small and unimportant feature like intersection snapping can be to modelling an architectural scene where the intersection of objects and splines mark out the obvious spots where bits and pieces usually come together?

It’s lack of fundemental snapping functionality like this, that continuously keep forcing me back into Rhino to get embarrassingly simple jobs done when they so easily could have been accomplished in C4D!

moka-j, thanks for the workaround! :) Unfortunately, when working under time pressure one simply has no other choice but to go for the absolute fastest, most efficient approach possible even if this means switching back and forth between Rhino and C4D.

Let’s hope Maxon takes note and enhances the snapping functionality of their otherwise brilliant software in future releases!

This is most true... Make sure you send your suggestion to Maxon, they are very responsive to the Users.
