View Full Version : Boujiou Booh Hoos with XSI
pseudopod 02-15-2005, 10:37 PM Hello,
When I import the .XSI camera tracked file from Boujiou, it takes forever to load and then before it does XSI crashes. I am using a fast and very capable computer. The footage that was tracked is High res however.
Whats wrong? What can I do?
Please help

I'm trying to remember if it was Boujou or Matchmover, but if there is an option to export the camera as a .vbs script in Boujou, you should try that. That was the most successful format in my limited past experiences. If Boujou doesn't have that feature, sorry for wasting your time :D

Maybe you're exporting too many points? Haven't used boujou for a little while now, but I seem to remember you could limit the export to gold points, or selected points, or something like that. Bottom line - you don't end up with a massive array of nulls in the xsi scene which might be your prob?

The problem with 2D3 Boujou is that each null is actually a Model null that is exported. Which is kinda stupid... since each model can contain a mixer... so if you have 30.000 points you will in a way have 30.000 animation mixers in your scene.
This might be what crashes xsi. I wish Boujou would change the way it exports dotXSI files.
Another workaround would be to import it into Softimage|3D if you have access to it. And there save the scene and then export just the camera and a few necessary nulls

How do I limit the export to just the gold points? I think this could solve the problem. Pls rsvp asap.

Doh, wish I'd checked the page from work. Going by memory - on the export window I thought there was a little checkbox - "Selected Points only" or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was on the same page where you would enter the range of the sequence you wanted to export...
