hello,
i'm using a matte/shadow material in max 4 and applying that to a 3d floor. the only purpose of that floor is to recieve shadows. the animation looks ok but i want to render it in different passes. now when i render the alpha channel, the floor too becomes part of the foreground(white) i only want the ball(on top of the floor) anf its shadow to get rendered in the alpha channel. is there any way in max for an object not to get rendered and still recieve shadows. i have tried hiding the floor but then the shadowdoesnt get rendered in the alpha.
