wow! One of my trek renders actually got comments! :D thanks guys!:)
software is LW 7.5, the only stuff done in photoshop is the lines on top/bottom of the image, and the credits.
As for a wireframe....

very nice, more realistic than the real renders...but
Although, something dosn't quite look right about the ship, usually the models in star trek are brighter, they seem to be a lot of ambience with some shadow lighting from a point source (such as your sun there)

you're not seeing the shadows cast by the star? That's odd...
I can tell you the ship is lit by 6 blue spots, 1 above, 1 below, 1 on each side, 1 to the front, and one in back. The star is a point light set to 300%.
And for the record, I wasn't going for Foundation's lighting style, since I wanted something a little moodier than they usually come up with.;)
thanks for the compliments!:)
keep it comin'!;)

I think the yellow might be a bit saturated. Otherwise nice pic :)
BTW, Say-G: That's my favorite lighting for the voyager. One of the few lighting that makes that ship pretty :D

*sigh*
like I said, I'm NOT trying to duplicate the lighting from the show. Believe me, when and if I do, i'll say I am!:)

heh that wasn't directed at you Vipe!;)
btw I am redoing this with a model that actually fits together properly (even i can see the holes in Voyager). As soon as the anim (180 frames at 640x320 w/Enhanced medium AA, you do the math) is finished, I'll pop off a still shot. lightened the lighting a little just to see how it'd look, and it looks better in my tests...

i like the lighting in valkyrien's render. tv and movies use brighter lighting only for the sake of the audience being able to tell wtf they're looking at. space is dark!
Star Trek, B5, and Star Wars renders are the worst. Everybody takes someone's nice mesh, throws in crappy lighting that doesn't resemble what's on the shows/movies, and throw them up on the web as if it's art.
Sorry bro. I can't say anything good about this. Try scifi-meshes.com... Plenty of newbs there that will appreciate every bit of this sort of stuff.

I posted in on SFM about the same time as here...got maybe 5 replies including my own. And some of the so-called "newbs" there do art the likes of which I'd like to see you create;)
Like i said, not going for the lighting like in the shows, cause i like 'em dark and moody. That's called artistic liscense. Do you like to follow the crowd and overlight everything you do? Cause that's not very original either.;)
SO if ya don't like it, that's fine, but try and come up with some better logic next time ;)
thanks, LyonHaert!:)

I tend to agree the fact that the lightning needs more work. The DOF is maybee not really adapted to work on the still picture you displayed. The modellisation looks cool.
StarTrek suxxxxx ! ... hum hum sorry, I couldn't resist :D
