hmmm... try making it yellow? put some colour variation into it, cap the pimples texture so that it doesnt look like leather, and mix with another larger texture in the bump channel. tint the colours around the top and bottom. light it better... best just to go and buy a lemon and have a long close look at it to get your texture as close as possible.. look at the reflections in it, it's colour, the bumpyness, try to look at it and think about each channel in the material as you do so. colour, specular, reflection, bump, luminance.. etc.

i just made a lemon a few days ago. can't show them now cause i am not at home for days. well, what mdme_sadie said sums all up that i would have said. what i also did was to use dirtynnuts vertex option in the fusion channel after i created a vertex map to define some greener parts a the top and bottom and at some random places on my lemon.

The green specular makes it look like plastic,

thats the first thing that strikes me.

The shape looks fine. I would just add variations in colour and bump. Put some scars and marks on the skin. Maybe a subtle specular highlight. Basically you need some chaos in there.

Another good tip is that when you think the saturation is just about right reduce by another 10% etc,the one thing people do the most in CG is over saturate colors.

Grab a lemon and closely examine it.

Try using proximal also, to add a soft color variation...maybe a base of yellow and a couple of areas of green!

Heres a really quick example!

Cool pics guys

For fruit I have found the best method is to put a lemon etc right in front of your puter and then try and match the colors with those in your swatches using a color picker.I have a banana pic somewhere where I placed a banana on my tablet and just started painting what I saw :)
