Is there a way to get rid of tri's in a model withour completly remodeling it?
Ive got tris in this model I made and they look horible.

Replace them with quads? Be nice if there was an automatic resurface tool, but i think you'd have to do it by hand.

well that the thing, ive never had this problem so i dont know how. everything i try deletes the entire polygon

Look in the modifier panel for a button called remove :)

nope max 4.2 there is no remove button

uhhh, what happens when you hit delete? It should just delete the edge.

no if I select an edge and hit delete it removes the entire polygon

Are you working in editable mesh mode? Try Poly's... they rock!

edit: wait, can you post a screen grab? Just hit print screen and paste into photoshop.
