micco 02-14-2005, 08:30 AM Does anyone know any good Camera Match and Tracking tutorial for max? The one that came with the max doesn't help me much at this point. I have this mission impossible going on where I have to track a moving camera and there are about 100 persons and bearly no place where to put those CamPoints.. and those distances.. I have no f***g clue.
Thanks in advance

Hey - I am working on a big project in max with lots of tracking.
Do you have typical image of the footage? Post it and I'll try and help. I have tested a number of tracking apps...don't bother with Max built in one unles you have the simplest footage.
I was going with Syntheyes ( http://www.ssontech.com/ ) but the interface is terrible
I have switched to http://www.thepixelfarm.co.uk/products/products.aspx?PID=4
here's some test footage...

Hehe... That slip was funny. :)
Unfortunetally I don't have so much free space on the net so I can't send you the footages (about four). I have attached few screenshots from one of those. So do you think this could be possible to track somehow? Maby with that Pixel Farms program?
I may have more space in a few days so maby then I could send one of those footages.

Those screenshots are fine - don't need the footage have to much of my own ;) basically you would track only the green area here - that should be good enough. Ideally you would know the camera settings.

You can download a fully working trial version of PFMATCH on the site - it only works for 3 days - but that should be fine for the shots you are doing. I am buying mine today!
Thing's to save time:
when you import the shot - right click on the footage name in the tree structure and set to the correct interlacing for the footage.
set the matte as per above...right click to set.
let PFmatch do it's thing - test the shot with some objects...
output a max script to run that produces a full tracked camera
before you do anything in MAX make sure that you have the output settings set at the correct format first - PAL/NTSC 25/30 FPS and the right aspect ratio.
set the shot as the environment BG. View camera with safe frames on...
good luck!
