Hi there

I model this for the february CG challenge " demons and gods" ...
I spend most of my time to create the textures ... and Im still not satisfied ...

Its almost a Finished work .. I need to change small details like the eyes, I want them to be like selfilluminated grape ...
I would like to have some advises for lighting this character up too ...

Rendered with the help of Vray and I spent few seconds in photoshop to correct small details and add few others

Hope you like it, if not, tell me what's wrong !!! :)

Wow, I saw this one in the challenge, looks really awsome now.
The chest does look a bit weird. The head and the snakes are really kick ass.
(About the eyes, wouldn't it look good if you put a little iris texture on it? Just the structure of it. Just a thought though. :D )

Great job! I already feel becoming stone :applause:
But she seems to be frightened. Is Perseus there to cut off her head? I love old greek tales!

Nice, although the snakes are nindered by the lighting you have, a bit too bright. I think that the eyes are going to change the whole thing and make it look loads better.:wip:

Hey thanks for the kind posts

The Strange Black Line is just a non-welded chest...
shame on me

i put this light in her back just to have a fun render, and because I don't know how to light really well

And for the eyes, I'm on it !

toma : eheheh I know what u did last ... night :)

 GAAAA

The eyes need help, also the texture map on her chest looks rather low-res.

Otherwise, nice model. She looks about as scared as the person looking back at her.

its all in the eyes ;) ...
try to give them more substance - for illuminated eyes, give them a glow... and not forget to put some textures on (even it it seems like if it would make no difference to some eyes without textures.. know what i mean?)
lighting isnt perfect, too but im sure u are going to improve that. :D
exept that: REALLY GOOD!!

thats really cool i really like how you composed that model makes it almost 1000x better

y'know, maybe a low light from the front can add the dramatic eerie feeling. :)

mangled poly : that's what I wanted to do ....
The model itself is not so detailed (snakes are all the same ...etc), I work a lot on mapping (unfortunatly it's difficult to see) but the posing was the funiest part !

Jan ; stephen2002 :
I wanted to put on her face some kind of madness, mixed with a bit of suffering too... I wanted her to be tortured.

dungbeetle : thanks for the tip, check the next render

Im looking for inspiration about lighting (70's and 80's horror movies-like )

... any help will be welcome!

Hi Pistols...

That time I have been able to sleep :) i just thought i would first go to *puke* last time I came writing in this thread... not because of your model, but because of that "flooded" night ;)

OK my brain and stomach are now almost completely healed, so I'll do my best to give you constructive advice.

Here we go.
First, I like it. This pose is so wicked, so weird, it is really expressive. That's true too that this "creature" looks a bit scared, as stephen2002 said bedore. Is it done on purpose ? Otherwise, it would be nice to remove that "scared" feeling of her face.

I have the impression that with that lighting, you loose the detail on her face, and I think it's a pity, because her face is really well modeled and textured. As dungbeetle said, maybe you could add a some light source in front of her, at the bottom to gain detail on this area.

About the chest, I think that the "purple" part (lower) looks almost not from the same model. The separation between the "dress" and the skin is a bit too sharp.

And maybe in the composition you could add something. I don't know exactly what... Maybe trying to remove the hands from the front of the body, making it easier to read her pose. Do you see what I mean ?

Anyway, that's a great artwork. Please keep going and show more !!!

ahh btw, cute Avatar ! ;)
Bye Pistols

I think the first one was working very well...(better)

the thing I love on this one is the wet look of the snakes !!!

most important thing is the feeling that comes from the pic...much more than showing modeling details or stuff like that...
the purpose/aim more than the technique(even if it's pretty good here)...

I mean the white one was very scary...and it's not easy to scare with a such bright picture !!!! it's a very intersting contrast indeed...the pure reassuring white become evil/very scary...

The black one doesn't work as much...much more classic/less original...and I think much less scary...

voila that's all...

I'm sitting in a dark room and that pic just poped up on the screen and that thing scared the SHIT out of me!!! (metaphorically)

Scary! Damn scary!

I liked the lighting in the first image better. It seemed much more dramatic. It has a contrast, or harshness to it that seems to fit well with the image of the monster you made.

As for eyes you just might cheat a little and use lensflares or glows for the eyes. Something simular to this:

great picture and concept, i also noticed the black line, and the cutoff of the chest towards the bottom

Wow, great model! I like the first pic way better because she actually almost looks translucent, her expression looks like she IS suffering (which I do love) and the tilt and bend of her head comes over better, giving it more of a surreal feeling. What I'm not sooo keen on is the pure white light. Maybe something else could happen behind her in addition to the light? Like the edge of a doorway (as if someone just opened up a door and out she pops). It's just that it looks a bit empty.

I like the color of the eyes though, I think green might not fit into the rest of the colorscheme.

Great work!

Wiro
