Does anyone have any tips on successfully configuring Maya in educational environment?

Are there any issues with mandatory profiles, group policies or harddrive protection devices that we should be aware of? With 3ds max for instance we redirect certain default folders from C: to another drive since C: is protected from any permanent changes.

OK, a more specific question. How do I permanently redirect the default preferences folder for a user from "My Documents" (huh?) to someplace else?

Look in the "Essentials" book, in the chapter: Setting Environment Variables.

The env variable is: MAYA_APP_DIR
