View Full Version : Character, Myself(nudity possible)
expjames91 02-13-2005, 09:20 AM So I decided I need to work on my character modeling skills, as I've only ever modeled one character, so I decided to start on a full body self portrait of sorts.. taking some liberty to change certain areas. anyways, a few early shots to see if i'm going in the right direction..

a few low poly(no MS) pics of the backside
I'm much happier with the new rear. and yes, i know, no shoulderblades, as I have jsut started working that area(also haven't touched the backsides of the arms)

no comments?
Darn, was hoping you were female...
It's not too bad. The main problem I see is the lack of proper anatomy in many areas. I'm not really much to talk about anatomy, but even to me some areas stick out too much, and others not enough, while others are incorrect.
If you're not going to use yourself as a ref, use someone else ;)
I'm not sure what method of polymodeling you use, so good luck with the rest of it!

Im going to have to agree with Raxx: the anatomy is not correct in several areas. IE: The pectoral muscles are to small, the arms are quite square in several areas, Things of this nature. (Sorry I cant help you much as my area of expertise is tanks) But, looking at yourself in the mirror/taking images for refrance and looking at anatomy images would help.
Also, Id turn down the level of smoothing/subdivisions, as it stands it is has way to many polygons for the level of detail.
Other then that good job so far and good luck with the rest of it!

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the pecs are a bit small and high on the chest, as when i was working on that area I was using myself(pics and full body mirror) as ref, and that's how I'm shaped. it looks odd now, with the rest of it, and it's actually been bugging me. The arms I haven't really worked on at all since i first extruded them. so that's why they are squarish. I'm using mainly my anatomy books from scool as reference now. As i said, only my second try at a character(i'm used to modeling architectural scenes and spacecraft) still trying to convert my ability to draw anatomy, into an ability to model it...my school focuses more on drawing and animation, then modeling and texturing...
