View Full Version : Biped Walk cycle problem

In biped mode, when I tell it to generate a walk cycle, it shoves my character's hands down at his side, and shoves his feet together. However, his feet don't need to be shoved together. This results in some bizarre deformation of the character mesh. I've tried to straighten out the leg bones, but I can't move the thigh bone seperatly. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! I've included some screenshots so you can see what is going on.

Hard for me to tell, can you post a shot with the footsteps in better view? I am wondering if it has to do with their positioning? Also - maybe a 3/4 view from a little further back might make it easier for me to help diagnose.

It looks like the feet are being pulled closer together.. there are options you can mess around with in creating the footsteps, you probably just need to alter how closer together it sets the feet down. You can also drag the actual footstpes out to where you want them, have you tried that?

I haven't done a lot with footstep mode because it just seems so annoying to work with. I find it a lot easier just to animate without them. But that's just me. ^_^

Yeah I tried moving the footsteps, but all that does is make him bend his feet in more so that the feet keep the same width together. As a result, he ends up waddling like a duck. Here's the actual file if you want to take a look: http://orod.lanpirates.net/mog.max

I'm looking at it now, I don't know why it's getting all screwy in the deformations, because if you just move the foot around it works... =/ Hmmm...

Yeah I know, it's quite bizarre. I want to do it the footstep way though, because all I will have to do in order to make him walk will be to place the footstep gizmos, and that should save me a lot of time.

PS, you win +10 awesome points if you can name the fictional species of the character.
