View Full Version : Hypergraph -- Getting Over Crowded...

Im playing with PLE...i am building and skinning 'Jackie', a Da vinchi Wireframe...when i want to locate Joints, i am doing so through the Hypergraph....but its getting very crowded...to the point where i can see the rest of the stuff at all....why doesnt this window scroll....how am i to see the rest of the components of my model???

? you can use alt+ mouse buttons to navigate in there like you would in a 3d view.
otherwise, personally i preffer the outliner to the hypergraph since its more compact for just selection reasons.

Also you can filter just certain types of nodes with right-click menu. You can check out the freeform layout too where you can move nodes around as you prefer...

Considering that the dependency graph is at the very core of Maya's architecture...A|W should redesign the Hypergraph so that it is more usable. They certainly could learn a thing or two from Houdini.

Its been a while since someone has posted to this thread, but I have to point out the value of the Outliner. It is much faster to use in my opinion. You cant zoom in and out on it like the Hypergraph, but it is scrollable. This has helped me so much in keeping lots of joints organized. Since it's right there, on the left hand side of Maya's main window, it's also easy to find.

Yeah good call!!!! i am starting to realise that the outliner is much more user friendly than the hypergraph :)
