View Full Version : juice box
skull_leader 02-11-2005, 07:18 AM hi there
I just refined this little animation and kind of needed some feedback. I've being looking at this for a while now to tell whether it looks right or now, thus I kind of needed some fresh eyes. C&C are welcome.

Very nice. I think you did a great job giving the box personality and realism.
One little constructive criticism... After the ball hits the box, the box spins around but briefly pauses before falling to the floor. I think the pause is a bit awkward. It seems to just kind of stop in mid-air. I might suggest slowing down the whole spinning around and falling and make it flow into one continuous motion.
Great work!
I really like the animation and especially the secondery motion in the straw.
After playing it back a coulpe of times there are 2 minor things that draws my attention.
1. The 2-3 first steps could be a bit faster and have a little more snap to it. You know, to get a way from that moving-in-water feeling, even if you are far, far away from the pool at the moment. Hope you understand what I'm getting at.
It also seems like you started the animation in the middle, since the box starts in the air and comes down a bit too slow (Kinda what I tried to explain above). If you start to animate 1-2 seconds ahead this clip (just for the sake of getting in to a fluid motion) without taking it to the final clip, you should get a more natural look in the start.
2.After the box hits the ground the shake seems a little too fast IMO. Slow it down a bit but absolutely not too much.
Other than that I think its a wonderful animation.

3Ddude - Thanks for the feedback. I did once think about having the spin and fall continuous but I decided to have the moving hold instead since I thought it looked interesting. If the juice box only had eyes, maybe it will convey that pose better. Thanks for your time and feedback.
M25 - Thanks for the tips. I am not quite sure what you meant by your first tip. Can you please elaborate on that? I tried out your 2nd tip last night by making the "stretching up bit" two frames instead of one, but it looked too "fleshy" and lost some of its "hard and boxy" material feeling. Thanks for your time.
Thanks all.
