View Full Version : knight(pencil rendering)
goatrape 09-13-2002, 09:19 PM This is a character I worked off and on over the course of 2 days. It was done with a mechanical pencil of various lead sizes. I didnt really think this one out, just kinda on the fly sorta thing. The head was done first with a more "comic book" style, something I havent done in a long time. Then I decided that I liked it and went on to adding armor and other acessories. I have never done a completed "knight" before, cant say much about his positioning or stance...I didnt plan on ever finishing it. So tell me waht you think. I cant change it now because of soo much graphite, but comments never hurt.
Next I wanna put him in a action shot (pose) against an ogre or something. If i ever get the balls to, I wanna attempt at modeling him in Maya

The resolution of your image is 300dpi.
You don't need any more than 72dpi for anything you're only posting on the web.
If you use Photoshop 5 or higher, the use the Save for Web... feature. It works great.
I'd really like to see your image. It looks good.
So lower your resolution, and you'll have no problem posting a bigger picture.

Umm.. Resolution is irrelevant. Really, it is. 72? 96? 300? "Save for web" works for ANY resolution. Just mind the size in pixels.
Nice drawing.

Great drawing. I would also like to see a higher resolution scan. It looks like you have a great touch with your shading.
By the by. Changing the resolution will not change the size that the image is displayed in a browser. A jpg will display at roughly 72 pixels per inch depending on the resolution that you are running your monitor. In a browser the image will match up pixel per pixel with the monitor resolution. I would try adjusting the quality settings of the jpg to the lowest acceptable setting to get a small file. Of course you probably already knew this and I am wasting bytes.
Regardless, great drawing and thanks for shairing. I can't wait for the 3d version.

Nice armor, but the arms are too short (they should reach to the half of the thigh). The sword looks quite small and thin perhaps, but it looks demonic (stormbringer?) The shoulderīs plates are great, nice metal effect.
The file can be smaller if itīs only grayscales mode.

@goatrape wow i'm nearly speechless (and this is not very often! ;-))
i like the armor u gave your knight!
but i asked myself ...why did this heavy knight got no helmet like the rest of the armor...will there come an update or an other version?
or did i only have not read your comments not very careful?!..means did i miss something?
but anyway keep up your great style of drawing

Well, I did the head first. Not knowing I would complete the drawing...i didnt even know it turn out to be a knight. Once I started to get into it I also realized it would be cool to add a helmet, but too much graphite on the paper would make it more of a mess than what it was actually worth. I wanna go back and simplfy him (more cartoon-like), and I can then think about adding a helmet and make it more of a possiblilty of a converting it to a 3d model...using the drawing(s) as templates.
Really appreciate all the comments you guys!!!
