OK im looking to upgrade soon. Im willing to spend around $350 for CPU and motherboard. Whats the best I can get for that kinda money? I will be using this new rig for creating 3d content such as 3d modeling , and animation. Also using photoshop and also for some 3d gaming. Im not sure what i should get since i love doing 3d rendering and also 3d gaming. http://www.beyondtheportal.com/forums/images/smilies/ohwell.gif What processor is best for both? A friend of mine said just get a new intel chip cause it does beat amd in 3d rendering. Although AMD beats INTEL in memory and 3d intesive games. I know for a fact that creating dense content in 3ds max is what i have a problem with. What processor is better for this? Prescot? Athlon 64 3400? Im still a gamer so I dont know if i should shell over the $ for a CPU thats gonna suck with games! http://www.beyondtheportal.com/forums/images/smilies/ohwell.gif Also AMD has been good to me with 3d modeling. Just the rendering is slow. Damn im confused .. INTEL? AMD?

GO ahead and tell me what i should get. http://www.beyondtheportal.com/forums/images/smilies/14.gif Thx

350 bucks is not much but that s what I spent in my second machine which is all ready for working with 3Dmax or photoshop: you can easily work in 3D with any socket A motherboard with AGP + AMD Athlon XP Barton 2500 + 2X512Mo noname+ Maxtor40go+nonamepowersupply

You ll have a add a lil' 100 bucks for a decent 64MO AGP Card, it s more than enough to handle 3D modeling in openGl

And Pentium efficiency over AMD wont worth the extra bucks you ll waste in it, IMHO

hope it helps
