Gray Marshall is a visual effects supervisor and one of the founders of Gray Matter FX. Known for its story-driven approach to the visual effects process, Gray Matter has contributed to such films as Secret Window, Lost in Translation, Pirates of the Caribbean and Adaptation. For Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Gray Matter was called upon to create a wide range of effects, as Marshall explains in this interview with vfxblog.

i just wanted to say that 'introduction to the boat' scene was one of my favorite scenes of the last 4 years.

its one of the best "breaking the 4th wall" scenes ive seen yet :)
