Title: Alone In The Hive?
Name: Dave Boarini
Country: United States
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

Originally derived from a mistake, I created the hive while trying to do something else. I thought it a pretty neat accident and came up with an idea for a scared li'l bee inside as well.

Created almost entirely in 3D Max 6, compositing in Photoshop.

crits and comments always welcome. Thanks

It's pretty cool!

This kind of scene is worth to be rendered with two cameras ( left + right ).
Then assemble the 2 pictures to make an anaglyphic one.
If you can find somewhere red+blue glasses you'll give a sensational depht to this picture.

I think that is an awsome mistake! Rather, not a mistake at all. Really Cool!

I like really like it but there are somethings I would changes.
First off I would like to get some more interesting lighting going on here. Put up a couple of more lights and try it out.
Give everything some textures, or even just put some noise in the diffuse, even that should make a big difference.
For some reason I don't like the big eyes at all. I understand what you're getting at but it just doesn't do it for me. But hey, that's just my opinion. :)

Rollmops idea would be pretty cool I must say, a very good picture for that kinda thing.

And remember, most good things start from a mistake
