I'm working through a tutorial from an older R8 book, which explains how to group objects and then scale them - in this instance, vertically in the Y axis. However, I'm using R9 and when I drag the axis tools, the grouped objects all scale independantly and not just in the Y axis - they all grow in size and begin to overlap.

How do I set up a grouping so that I can resize in one direction without altering the other axes? What am I missing here?

(Yes, I'm sure it's in the manual, but I've no idea where, hence my query...)

Did you make the objects editable? If you are using parametric objects, and haven't made them editable, any scaling will scale them uniformly. Make them editable, throw them in as a child of the "scaled" object, and everything should be right as rain.

Yep - just figured it out as you posted. Coming from LightWave, I'm not used to this 'make editable' stuff yet. Works fine now - thanks!
