According to the help, the hotkeys for component selection are as follows:
Press F9 (vertices), F10 (edges), F11 (faces), or F12 (UVs).

They work great on the PC. But on the Mac, F9 sorts all open windows on the desktop, F10 greys out every window except for the one selected, F11 hides all windows, and F12 works fine (selects UVs).

Isn't it easier to just right mouse over your geometry and bring up the component selection marking menu?

You need to go into your system prefs. and turn off or readjust your EXPOSE settings. Those keys default to expose before maya.

I just changed those expose settings in the system preferences and those component selection hotkeys works great. It's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
