How to cut one shape out of another?

The unpleasant way would be using Booleans. Read up Booleans in the help documents, as it will be able to explain it better than I would. Make sure you read up on polygon booleans though, not nurbs.. Expect strange results on booleans aswell :(

The other way is to use the split polygon tool and make a cylindrical hole using that. As it may be cleaner that way (more edges, but it works out better in the end).
