espaki 09-12-2002, 05:09 AM Hello, I am reserving my space now...I'm sorry that I don't have a scanner, but I do have some concepts that I am working with.
My idea isnt very original, but there is metal and lasers involved.

Looking good! As far as crits....i think his head is looking a little small compared to his big shoulders and chest. And his chest area is looking a little too sharp...I think it needs to flow a little better and not look like natural armor...that is unless this guy is really strong!:D

I agree that the chest area needs some work, i should have an update in the next post. As far as the big shoulders and chest, he IS an athlete after all.:D

09-26-2002, 07:15 PM
Thanks Octacon, I realised after I posted this that there is a bit too much blue in the bottom one. The top one is a bit too light in my opinion, so we will see if I can come to a compromise. 'nother update coming tonight.:wip:

hmm.. you know.. i like the bottom better. seems to fit the charactor's face me thinks. are you going to just use procedural textures? or are you are you planning on texturing him in photoshop?
espaki
09-28-2002, 02:24 AM
I have come up with a compromise for the color, I will show it to you all soon. I will definitely do a full p-shop texture, but not until later. I have to make sure and get my model done and rigged first.:wip:
see you all soon

rizob
09-28-2002, 03:15 AM
its lookin pretty good but the head looks alittle small for the body.
i think the soulders supposed to be 2 - 21/2 heads wide, and his his abs and face look thin but his arms look beefy, other than it just needs refining
espaki
09-30-2002, 09:00 AM
rizob - i mentioned the shoulders in an earlier post, he is an uber-athlete so he is a bit exaggerated. as for the arms, i havent really touched them yet so they are a bit off. thanks for the crits tho - i appreciate it.
here is a little progress, i have been getting the back into shape. this whole model has been an excercise in anatomy. i am learning a lot as i go:wip:
let me know what you think....

more back work, i have it set up for a time lapse, so after i finish the back and arms, you can see it animated from the point of the previous pic.

nice keep refining, that vidoe time laps should be cool, youll have to show me how you did it, anyway anatomy is toughhh so just just work it over a milliom billion trillion times

here is the timelapse. Unfortunately i dont know how to set it to go 3 frames per second, so you have to scroll through it frame by frame manually. The 3dsmax ram player seems to work well for that.
btw: its the mpeg 4 codec - only 37.5k

erilaz
10-01-2002, 08:47 AM
That's one super well-toned guy you've got there!:D I'm thinking maybe the pecs are a little hard egded, but they suit the rest of him!
espaki
10-03-2002, 07:23 PM
hello again, the pecs have been adjusted a bit erilaz, thanks. :D
i have also done a bit of adjusting on the stomach, back and a bit of material adjustment. I will let the pics speak for themselves.

I hadn't noticed this entry, but I really like it. great model.
What will the sport look like? :wavey:
espaki
10-11-2002, 10:18 AM
thanks dmonk, your entry is looking well too. I thought you all might be bored with the angle i have been showing, so here is another. I have been continuing to refine...all this anatomy study takes a bit to absorb and implement.
tell me what ya think:wip:

Apt Pupil
10-15-2002, 03:43 PM
I really like the lighting of this setup and the softness of it all looks very nice too. Right now however, maybe you are only going to show his upper body in the final, so that's why the lower arms seem really unworked on. The wrist area seems unaturally wide.
Otherwise, I can't wait to see this one finalized!
Keep up the good work!
espaki
10-15-2002, 06:18 PM
Thanks, apt pupil. I really like your 3d work.
As for the arm, yes, i havent really even touched the forearm/hands yet as the attached picture will show.
Also, the lighting isnt anything special, its just a bitmap as the brazil sky color.
more to come soon, i'm off work tomorrow-
