Why not just post you problem and pictures here? Then everyone can help you.

~300,000 max users are better than "1 max master"....well, maybe.

first of all attaching images is easy.. when you post a message or reply.. below your typing screen there is than a button,, saying attachments.. press it, and you can scrool through your pc, and select the image you want to upload.

you have texture probloems.. you mention displacement.. stay away from displacement for now, you really dont need it yet.. especially when you are just starting.. try to model something.

follow some tutorials here.. http://3dtotal.com/ there is nice beginners stuff there

at the top go to free stuff,, than tutorials.

you try to model a bomb you sayd.. ? well first.. upload some images.

for texturing.. press M youll get the material library..
but just point out your rpoblem and well look at it, and see what we can do for you.

There is no way, we can make you master, you must just ask things.. but most of all, seek the answers first yourself, do some tutorials.. and when you have a question, first do a search on this site., there is a search tab.. and than search for your subject, what you want to know, most likely its allready been asked.. that helps a lot, that way you can also ask more specific questions when you have a problem and really cant find the right answer.

good luck

You can only attach images if you have 30 posts or over:

You can still link to files if you can host them somewhere... just don't post anything too good because posting on this site can generate a lot of traffic :)

There are several services that allow you to host pictures free, someone should be able to point you to one (i have my own web-space so i've not explored this at all)

materials doesnt look that bad..

but making such a thing, is not done by using boolean at all.

just get a sphere, with very little tesselation, or a box for that matter, than ad a edit poly modifier.. so you can model.

right click your object, conver to edit poly., than you can exture faces, pull edges and vertexes.

so make a very simple sphere, very low poly.. than exture the top.. and inset the the top face a few times, en extrude inward a few times, and than the mesh smooth over it, and its all smoothed out.

you dont need displacement mapping, just use the bump map slot. before adding materials to an object you need to at uvw coordinats, go to the modifier stack, and aply.. a uvw modifier, choose sphereical for instance, than your material is projected in a spherical way, you could also unwrap it etc.. but youll just have to do some tutorials for that, i see you have a lot to learn, so i suggest doing some very basics, at 3dtotal for instance, or www.3dbuzz.com (http://www.3dbuzz.com) sign in there and go to tutorials..they have a 3d max tutorial video section explaining everything viewport, modelling, materials etc.

but dont use displacemnt, its displaced this way now, because it moves the polys you have, the more polys you have, the more detailed your mesh can move with your texture, so it had to be denser to resemble all the little bump. but than a simple objects get way to heavy, so use a bump map, it has the same effect, but no real deformation in the mesh.

good luck
