Just a post to get my thread started...
I am in this challenge. It has been said before, but I have no other things to tie up my time for the duration of this challenge [ie:work or my wife [the halo2 teaser is done, and she is away for a month]]... so you all will finally see a finished character from me.
Sketches will follow shortly...I have a few great ideas and I am deciding which path to take...there is likely to be 2 characters, one main humanoid, and a companion animal/pet...
Let the modelling and rigging begin! :surprised

Been doin some sketching n stuff... I should have another pic/update up tomorrow evening...
This is still very ruff...I just got back into doin things digiatlly FROM SCRATCH...I really prefer drawing it with pencil/nupastel first...I do not think I will draw one from scratch with my WACOM again...the tablet is just for colouring damnit! :) [Man do I ned an oversize scanner for my next piece...I like to draw big...and if anyone out there knows where there are good deals on oversize scanners please let me know]
...and do not fret there are clothes to follow...the clothes kinda give her "sport" away though... even though the clothes are minimal ;)

...I mean there is still a month to model it, right? :surprised

It aint new, I just have not used it for drawing from scratch...I prefer to draw my characters with traditional media then scan them in for colouring...a tablet just can't replicate the good feeling of a tree underneath your 2B!

Some of the proportions and structure are a bit off, but let's wait to see the model before a more in depth crit, shall we?

I will blame that on the WACOM! :)
By the way Slipkorn, you are a very talented artist...how come you don't join the challenge?

tablet just can't replicate the good feeling of a tree underneath your 2B! I absolutely agree with you there, bent. I love wasting paper too. But I draw on everything that has a clean side. And then I usually hate it and toss it in the recycle bin. Ive never gotten used to drawing straight off the wacom...
That said, I hope you can do some work for us to be jealous of.

I will be updating with some new sketches later tonight or tomorrow morning...I think it is coming along well, but I tend to be too picky and over-critical, so that is why it is taking me longer to decide what to model...
...lotsta time left! :surprised :) lol

Here is the update:
http://www.bentllama.com/cgtalk/hikerBabeSketch02.jpg
I am trying to refine her as much as possible before modelling...a process I feel is often overlooked...
I am going for a cartoony but cute type of look...alot has changed since my first sketch...I did one sketch on the way to this one where she ended up looking like a superdeformed character...ugghhh...
...and I got lazy with drawing every section of the braids, but you get the idea...
...anyway I might even push the proportions further, especially her "womanly" assets...this challenge was supposed to be "extreme" right!!! :surprised :) :surprised
...gotta love the lederhosen...can you guess the extreme sport?
...and I am going nowhere on a name for her...
...there is:
Inga
Helga
Hottie
Hamina
...anyway if you can suggest a name, that would be great, maybe I would even post a poll to name her...
bah! back to working her...errr...on her...oh, nevermind! :)
new updates soon! and 3D soon, I promise!
Virtuoso
09-23-2002, 08:16 AM
She looks quite promising.................in alot of ways.........
Perhaps "Heidi".......or "Heidi HO"............A nice name for a lederhosen wearing babe........ ;) :)
She will be a fine 3d model when brought into the 3D World..............looking forward to it.............yes the more I look at her she should be called Heidi................ either way she will be fine.......... :)
mybe " carmela" like : " carmela orchim nosafim hegioo ...."
never mind ... great sluty juke in tel-aviv

Well, what is she wearing, exactly? If it's army gear, throw a vietnam GI helmet, some mirror aviator shades, and a cigarette in there and she'll be dead sexy. Let the modelling begin.

She got legs...
http://www.bentllama.com/cgtalk/hikerBabe03.jpg
I started modeling her now get off my back! lol :) j/k
I am at a stage right now where I have rough objects in place and now I am fleshing her out. Refining the leg a bit at the moment. I tend to rough out the model with very simple geometry so I can get a feel of proportion etc...then I use that geo as a template for geo like the leg you see here...
I will post some more screenshots when I get more done..but I am tired and going to bed...

WOW.. really nice imageplains. ( the modeling's top shelf too ) i've gotta learn t draw like that. soooo.. so do you usually model from the feet up? or do you just do that with humans?
bentllama
09-27-2002, 03:49 AM
Mono:
I usually [and did here] start with very rough geo to get an idea of proportion. Manipulating cubes for arms, etc. I then go in and use those objects as templates for myself...now that I have a very rough 3D representation of my model I feel i can go on to creating refined geometry [like the leg you see in the previous pic].
I usually model in alot of different peices...but damn am I ever slow right now... I have not modeled anything in sooo long.

THICK CHICK?:
http://www.bentllama.com/cgtalk/hikerBabe04.jpg
She is becoming a little too thick in some areas in my model...I am gonna have to balance her out some more...I would have gotten more done...but I have a contract gig that I have been working on as well...but she will be finished! :)
new update soon...I have some rough arms and a head to flesh out...
[i will try to update friday evening, as I am going away for the weekend and will be away from my computer...and Maya...]
MikaelPersson
09-27-2002, 11:06 AM
I agree on the thickness. But I am not sure if itīs a bad thing though. Even if itīs not in line with your sketches.
But I really like the shape that is coming along. Inspires me to go on creating more on my own.
visualboo
09-27-2002, 03:58 PM
"Thick Chick?" hahhaha
BL... you could probably cut down on some of those polys and keep the same shape. Just seems a little too dense already.
oh ye mama !!!
no push up ? must be silicon ! great job dud!!:applause: :applause: :applause:

"thick chick?"
Hell, I'd date her!
I agree with visualboo on the polycount though...
Looking forward to seeing her complete!

The more polys the more curves, so I say bring them on. The thick curved look looks great, I think you are totally in line for a sweet creation Bentlama........just keep going, and leave polycounts at "Yesterdays door"........Dual 3 Gigers are just around the corner, thank the God's above for that......... ;)
Looking forward to your next update, fine job thus far...............

*cough* time *cough*
looks good so far. didnt wanna comment till your done, but i will anyways,.......something thats been buggin me since you first posted her breasts is that they dont really follow the sketch that much.they are kinda a different shape on the sketch.they seem to point up, yet your model points out.it could just be this angle...or gravity ........but, like i said, you're not done. the rest looks cool. :buttrock:
