 What a amazing picture! If i believed in fairies then I would have thought it was a photo.
Only crit I've got is the background picture if it is one. It looks a bit strange in the upper right corner the rocks seems to be cut out. The rest is just awesome!!

BTW Dit you also create the water?( fluid effects)

The body looks real! Photo real! (its not a photo, is it?) But the head looks very CG and a little too big. It might be the sharpness or the contrast of it. Im not a big fan of those wings either.
Great work either way - especially on the lighting and the body!
Its been said a million times before on a million other posts, but.....
"Can i see the wireframes?"

That looks simply amazing! What caught my eye after careful inspection is the bottom of her foot. You put a lot of work into that shader to create such an accurate appearance for the way that kind of skin looks. Excellent work.

This is great! Love her skin! Her tanline and her birthmarks!
Lighting is fantastic indeed...Love the little sand towers, I used to do a similar effect on my sand castles...
But I must agree with you TroisD. The background is not as perfect as the rest. One easy way is to use dof (Depth Of Field). Blur the background more. And when you do that you can build the rocks yourself...

Love it!

Please show us a wire.

It seems to me that the main image is a photo (body, water, and maybe the rocks on the left).

The head, left hand, sand(?) towers, wings, rocks on the right(maybe?) and foreground water appear to be the only CG elements.

If I am mistaken then I apologise, but I'm simply calling it as I see it.

Also, if I am wrong, then congratulations on some AMAZING texture work and pretty darn good modelling.

Wires please, to prove me wrong.

Mark.

At first, I thought this can't be true, in fact it is too good to be true. Well, after closer examination, it really didn't matter for me whether there will be a wireframe evidence or not. The work as a whole has aesthetic deficiencies in my opinion. These are the very basic rules in design: proportions, color balance, unity, harmony, etc..

To be able to immitate nature that way is a real talent, regardless if it was a paint job, or high end subsurface scattering shaders with full FG, GI advantage. But, there is always this thing beyond any possible and impossible technique which we call ART. It is the "Gestalt" we experience. I just did not have it this time, may be it is only me !!

best,

well, I really like to see a wire... of course, if 3d, the shading-texturing-modelling is exceptional... although the head seems to me too big, but it's a mistake easy to correct... if you do that for "fun and education", just don't hesitate! do that sort of model for bisness, it's not going to be difficult to work with!...

Well, OK, before getting into serious applause let's speak my doubts:

I would like to see her from different angles, a wireframe and, if you like to show, the textures (color, spec, opacity, bump) of the body. Show us different renders, maybe a girl only render, makes it a lot easier to figure out how good the modelling really is.

I think, as already mentioned, the proportions between the body and the head don't look right, and I would like to see her neck and more from her shoulders.

And if I'm wrong and it's all CG, completely modelled, textured an rigged, I bow down before you and you'll deserve my 5 stars for sure. ;)

Although I gave you 5 stars I am not totally sure if I have been faked! This looks so naturally that it is nearly unbelievable. Colors are a little bit too saturated for my liking, but I guess it fits good to the character!
This image really is an eye-opener!

this is fantastic. i'm tempted to believe it's cg because the feet seem just a little wrong (too small and too chubby?) and the far foot is placed up higher than it would naturally lie. it's interesting that i like this more because the mistakes make it a model. oh, and the sand towers...

Those mud things are brilliant. Gives the whole thing an innocent mental backdrop and keeps it from being uberkitsch. The fact that her foot shares space with her wings is a classical don't. You don't always have to abide to what they teach you. But in this case I wish you would have.

I pretty sure I can tell 3d from reality and this is one BAD ASS piece of 3D. that said I do have one small crit ( hard to find on this model ). The right thigh, and I suspect the left as well, tapers funny. right below her ass there is a rather large indent, then her leg procedes to get thicker right befor the knee. take a peek at the gif I attached, it should help explain what I'm talking about.

man those are bloody nice textures:drool:

i visited your website, too. all i see is Poser models imported in Maya. you have even used some default mocap animations on them.

Now... not showing us at least a sneak peak on the production details means that either there's something fishy about the work You don't want us to know or You're mean and selfish :D or You simply have no time to do it. To be honest, I`ve got doubts. As I checked your website, I haven`t seen any similar quality job there.

I`m really curious about the hundred of deformers you mentioned, and the binding pose. It looks so perfect, compared to your previous work...

I`m sorry for that, but we have seen many poser models here claimed as self-made. And it`s not against you, and your artwork.

The artwork is really a perfect one, and I don`t think that the head is large. I gave my five stars.

CHARACTER SETUP (http://www.mayatime.de/images/InflowSetup.jpg)
i dont need to put poser charactes in my gallery. i model realistic human in 1-2 days.
texturing, shading, environment and prepare to render is more time expensive for thus art of work.
I was some month jobless, was a few time to make qualitative character, setup and rendering.
for this pose I have separated her from skeleton to do better deformations.
it was first try mit influence objects and i am not really happy with all and the new art of skeleton i used.
i hope i have some time to do animation complete. in moment i work hard on commercial project.

sorry for english

The only crit I have of this awesome work is that it isn't in 1600x1200x32 @ 100% JPG quality. :(

Her head looked a little too large at first, but after taking a better look / some envisioning, it isn't, really.

This is wonderful work. For me, as long as the work is produced by the artist and not a rip of someone's creative work, thats all that should matter. The most important factor in presenting any work, is the end result. No consumer buying a video game, a DVD, or a comic book will care about a wireframe, or the tools used to produce an image or animation . This artist has nothing to prove to anyone. What makes so many in this thread, judge and jury? Either praise or critique a presented work all you like, but attacking a person's credibility, with little evidence is less than adult.

Andreas,

To be honest, I still have serious doubts too, but I think it`s a top quality artwork.

Maybe you should`ve post more wip images. For example a shot of the model wireframe before binding (the T pose), or some watermarked textures, etc. Your website really doesn`t show up any similar quality artwork, so I think that`s why the moderators voted down. There is no evidence, that it`s not a Poser model, while there is not evidence against it.

The wireframe and shaded view didn`t show too much. The topology is not clearly visible (which ius crucial for deciding about it`s origin), and the shaded model doesn`t show too much of the textures, and shading technology you used.

Skin shading is the holy grail of a CG artist, and on this image it`s perfect. Too perfect, we see tiny hair, sand, etc. over the legs, the butts, and the fact, that you didn`t share nothing to evaluate naturally rised the question, how much this image is original?

Actually, I went through the same thought many times, whenever I look at this image (actually the wallpaper on my home desktop), but I can`t answer. Only you can, and maybe if you share more information, the moderator will give the deserved place in cgchoice gallery!

the moderators here probably none Misogynists. Steven voted for me. It was pleasant for me
i think the choice gallery is influenced from the industry (publish a books too), they regulate for modern art certainly.
i studied works in choice gallery, a lot of it fakes a 2d illustrations. dark tones, pale or dirty colors will receive more likely a award here.
this work is too realistic it is not entered in the standards established here.

i like this girl, shes beautiful, but the image lacks appeal.

1. the BG is awfull
2. she's not looking at me, that makes me feel an intruder, i'd love to see her looking at me
3. those sand castles are ambiguous at least, obstructing her body and not so convincing sand work, but something unpleasant to see
4. the wings are too insect like, they have to have an angelic appearance
5. her hand doesnt appear to sustain her chin and head, her fingers should touch the cheek, perhaps the intention was to suggest shes playing with her hair but doesnt convince me
6. i see a lot of accents of specularity on her feet (soles) but her face barely has some specularity. i would leave the rest of the body in less light and put more work on lighting her face
7. and something has to be done with her nipples, they are too anonymous like they are now, why would you undress her if i wont be able to see her nipples ? :D

criztu: Jesus! Your day doesn't seem to be good today. Is your name Critz-u? Just kidding... But most of your critz oh sorry crits is a matter of taste. I like the sand creations b'qoz i made the same when i was a kid so it was fun see in a 3D environment and about the environment in this picture - i like it. When it comes to the nipples, sometimes it's more sexy to just be able to imagine instead of seeing stuff right infront of you. Another thing... i like that she looks away, it makes it look that there is something else in the environment as well. The wings are also a matter of taste, i like these wings. On the 5 and 6 i can agree with you ;-)
