Hi,

Audio in DF is intended for scratch tracks only. Audio is loaded via a Saver and not a Loader. If you really needed to convert a mov to an avi with audio you would have to first extract a wav file from your mov, add it to the Saver Audio tab, and then render your avi.

Does anyone have an easy way of extracting a .wav file from a .mov?

Eric > i'm sure i've tried this and it hasn't worked before, it was driving me mad I wanted to add audio to my demo reel but couldn't do it. Maybe I'll have to have another go.

DF will only render the audio to AVI and only WAV and DVA files are supported for playback. The point is... DF was never intended for final rendering of audio. The manual says "Final renders should almost always be performed without audio". It's a question of using the right tool for the job. And when it comes to audio, DF is not the right tool ;)

ah I see, i was trying to get it to go into a mov, its a shame that it is a pain. Especially when you end up encoding your work, then having to reencode it with audio, or as 3D guys say, the junk your drag along with the picture :P.

Thanks m8.

DF is an compositing program, you really should use an editing program or some other media program.

Just seems like something Fusion would have is all.

Maybe in version 5? Speaking of which, any one have any idea on a release date for it yet?

I agree there have been many times I wished I could at least play a scratch audio track while I'm working on my comping to make sure my FX are staying in synch with my audio. Plus for alot of purposes its a pain to have to jump into my editor just to add the audio in and go through the render process AGAIN. Oh well, its a comping app like 3DDave mentioned not a editor.

You can use a scratch track for timing purposes.. just load a wav file into the saver, and then open the saver's [+] in the timeline. Then you can scrub on the red and blue waveforms to hear the audio.
