How do I get the branch to follow the IK chain of bones more closely? is it a case of needing more geometry in the branch before subdivision? or needing weight maps? Are my settings way off the mark?

doesn't look like the object is following the bones at all....are the bones in the tree object?

hard to say from the pic....can you post the scene for download?

try setting your falloff type to "inverse distance ^128

Odd, I scrapped the bones/IK setup and tried again, and it worked as it should, default settings.

I'll try to recreate the bug? when i get some time...

some times that's the best way to see if there was user error...I restart settings every once in awhile and find that it was me :)
