Hey Khepri,

So I wasn't expecting too much when I saw the title of the thread. But that is one cool looking flower. I don't know anything about plants, is this a real type of flower, or did you make it up?
Anyhow, pretty cool, I can dig it.

Hi mate,

your plant is amazing, well the background is missing but that doesn't count now.
I wanted to ask, if that was a ssp study or did you use sla shader for translucency?
how did you do those leafs?

looking forward to an answer from you :)

sincerely

pietro

hello telecaustic and Pietro ! thnx for comments!:D

Pietro:

I achieved the sss thru the "wax" shader wich is part of the "brazil advanced" material. I changed some settings and colouring, and thats it! the plant (outside the vase) took about 7 minutes to render. thats because the (true)sss was calculated locally.

cheers

oh also, the leafs and flowers are patch and Nurbs modeled.

is brazil capable ofrendering glass-material physically correct? talking about the standing-surface of the vase. can brazil render rasiosity as the image shows, or is it a trick? i'm just curious.

Very nice looking image.

One little question though - Where did the fallen flower come from? There ought to be an empty gap for it. Maybe the other flowers marched it off the end of the stalk. ;)
