View Full Version : Strange Texture Disortion in Render

Here's my problem: I have a scene (an alleyway) and on the back wall there's this bitmap texture. In the viewport, it looks fine, but when i render (im using brazil 1.2x) it looks blurry and it really loses a lot of its detail. However, when i render the same scene with scanline, it renders fine. Here are some screenshots and renders to illustrate my problem.
Brazil Render (the one that gives me troubles) http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eilink109/brazil.jpg

heres the much improved scanline render:

Here are a few of my settings:

hmmm ... im not sure
but maybe it has something to do with your lighting

I'm using finalRender, but couldn't that be a problem with AA settings?

i would say its your AA settings. if you look at the brazil rendr compared to the scanline ALL the maps are blurry. Its just that you cant see all of them on the scalnline, but the floor is the same as the back wall.

My guess is that it's either the anit-aliasing or your texture filtering.

Try setting Min samples to 1 and Max samples to 2, then change your Image filter to Mitchell-Netravalli with a Blur and Ringing of the default 0.333. If that doesn't solve the problem then i'd then look at your lighting setup.

Thanks a lot, it turns out it was my AA filtering. As you suggested headless, pumping up the samples ironed out the problem. Thanks again, this problem was driving me nuts.
