View Full Version : Still: renderman 9-11-01
dflipb 09-11-2002, 03:36 PM This picture was done last year as a project in learning displacement programming for renderman shaders. It was assigned the same week the towers came down and it turned into my own personal rememberance of that day. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you all.

It's nice. Is it a real photo with a CG picture? the photo looks too flat, kind of like it's painted on the rocks. I'd like to know exactly what's CG in the pic though.

I believe the whole scene is CG except for the the image map on the photo.
My only comment is also on the photograph. It does look painted on.
Even if that photo had been through something like what happened that day, it would still be somewhat stiff.
A photo is usually printed on a card stock like paper, and it doesn't conform to shapes very easily.
Otherwise, it looks very good.
Good job

Thank you for the comments. The way it was made was with 2 flat planes. The rock textures are from a picture. And the news week is also from a picture. I did the displcaement, specular, etc. as maps. I will post how i did it either tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks again. I do agree with you about the thickness of the newsweek, but I couldn't quite get that displacement quite right. Maybe I'll have another go at it.

Nice work! The texturing on the rocks is pretty well done. You wouldn't by chance happen to be a SCAD fellow would you? (I noticed the secret key words in your post :) ) If so, I'll probably see you at Blunn. artistx_000@hotmail.com

I am/was a SCAD student. I just finished this past quarter, but you may still see me at the new building, but it is now called Mongomery Hall (Formerly Neal Blun). I guss Mr Mongomery paid more money than sorry Mr Blun. or they got sick of people calling it the BlunT building. :D
