View Full Version : Stacking Materials?!

I'm fairly new to C4D so forgive me if this is obvious to everyone else. I need to use the Bhodinut Anisotropic shader on a surface, but I want to apply a bump to deboss the surface also. Since there is no bump channel in the Anisotropic shader I have to use another material to deliver the bump.

I've looked at Mix Texture, Fusion, or some other combination but can't get a simple bump on this surface. The mix button causes the bump to disappear or the anisotropic to disappear depending on which is on top. When I try to use Fusion I can't add a Bhodinut shader as they're relegated to the File menu item only so can't be added through the drop-down. :banghead:

The manual is not very well written so it may well be that I'm missing something obvious with more C4D time under their belts. I should also mention that I'm using version 8.5

Thanks in advance!

Instead of using the Bhodinut material as-is, try making an ordinary C4D material and use Lumas in the luminance channel. Lumas will give you all the anisotropic options, plus the desired bump channel available in the material as per usual

Thanks very much for the help. It does seem a little goofy that there isn't a better way to stack materials than having to completly start fresh. I assume that this is a "feature" of the bhodinut shaders.

I assume that this is a "feature" of the bhodinut shaders.
One could say that those volume shaders are slightly legacy-ish ( :argh: ) I'm pretty sure there's nothing in them that can't be done in a normal material using the individual shaders that the Bnuts are composed of.
