I thought that these works would have the most impact if I held onto them until today. This first Spet11th segment is a mock news summary of events, complete with logos. This was created in the 2 weeks following the event.

The logos were created with Blender, composit was done in Blender, and the video was edited using some freeware app that I forget the title of.

I have posted this second work in the same thread because it has the same theme and builds off of the first. This is a mock newscast of the 60minuts type, where they go into some in-depth research on the subject. This one has CG graphics, I was aming for them to look simaler to news graphics but a little bit more realism. This was created in the 3 months following the event, the script was written only about a month after the event.

The animation was created with Blender, the compositing of the person on the backdrop was done in AfterEffects (I was originally trying to use a green-screen, but that didn't work too well, so I had to use an Alpha mask), the video editing was done in Premiere.

Bascially, what I am looking for in comments is what you think of the story, and of course what you think of the graphics. What impact did this video have on you?

so many people looked at this, yet nobody has any comments or thoughts :curious:

At a loss. Has the subject been overdone? Sorry.

personally i find that offensive, your squeaky voice commenting on an event you cant even comprehend. i had a few relatives murdered in the attacks and visited ground zero severaly times. and i find it kind of offensive that you, a mock reporter thinks he can sum up what happend in his few short bland and inconclusive words

elekt:

sorry................... sorry that the videos had a bad impact on you and that the actual events had more impact on you than they did on me

The project was a mock news report done as a class project in school. People there who watched it were impressed. Sorry that my voice offends you, but I can't do anything about that. I don't pretend to be able to make an inclusive overview of all that happened, I just re-stated some of the facts that were readiliy avalable from various professional news organizations.

@elekt:
The sad thing is, it's not that different from "real" reporters. I've been thouroghly sickened by watching all the news people froth all over themselves trying to come up with stories and images that will be so sad or so horrible that people will "have" to watch their show. And all so they can charge alot for ads on their show...very, very wrong.

Sorry for you losses. I had a couple of near misses, but everybody came out OK, thankfully.

Oh, please... You think you're the only one who can comprehend the loss of a loved one? People are dying as we speak, and it's more than "a few". The fact that these deaths were caused by terrorism (as opposed to, say cancer, aids, a car accident, etc.) doesn't make them any more tragic, and neither does the fact that the media wants to use graphic 9/11 imagery to boost ratings.

I totally agree with you Hookflash!

I don't understand what people are thinking when they say you can't comment on the subject just because "You don't undertand it the way I do". Unfortunatly an incident of that magnitude affects everyone, not just those who where devistated with the loss of loved ones. Tacky as it may be, Stephen's video isn't ment to be offensive, your just overly sensitive to the subject matter.

Oh god I can't believe I'm commenting on this, I'm sick of this 9/11 media crap.

How dare you? You have to be the most ignorant person I've ever seen post on these threads. You have alot of nerve trying to demerit the validity of elekt's loss. Who the **** are you?

People die every damn day you idiot. Are you that stupid that you can't understand the national (and to a certain degree global) impact of these attacks? The fact that "people are dying" has got to be the weakest defense for your apparent lack of sympathy. I've got a Newsflash for ya, Hookflash EVERYBODY DIES. The difference here is that 3,000 people didn't spontaneous pass away from cancer or aids. They didn't die of natural causes, they were murdered by 19 cowards. Ignorant people such as yourself are the reason why things such as war and terrorism are so rampant in the world. I hope you never have to experience horrors like those that took place in America a year ago. Then again, it probably wouldn't phase you, seeing as you can't tell the difference between a mass-murder and a car accident. You're a sad, sad individual.

 If that's the case, here's an idea. Don't read a thread that's clearly labled "9/11 news." Talk about stupid.

edit: elekt, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I had a few friends working downtown that day, but thankfully they all survived. God Bless you and your family.

Ok, you've obviously misinterpreted my post. I wasn't trivializing elekt's loss, I was simply trying to point out that his loss isn't any greater than anyone else's. No one gives a shit about the loved ones *I've* lost, because they happened to die more "conventional" deaths that didn't interest the media. The entire nation is holding a "memorium" for these 9/11 people as though their deaths are more tragic than others. As for your eloquent statement "People die every damn day you idiot": Thank-you. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. People *do* die all the time, and we aren't holding memoriums or having "moments of silence" for them, are we? Seeing as how the rest of your post is just an incoherent tantrum of contradictions, I don't think I'll even bother responding to it. Good day.

I think it's about time this thread is closed before it goes like the rest of the threads on this subject has gone.

There's been an unusual amount of aggression on these forums lately. I didn't even have a chance to see how those other threads went. What happened?

Well, i found the first one...the news break report of sept 11th...sorry but i found it pretty useless.... it resembled a lot of the reports that took place last year on sept 11....but it was nothing special.

The second one was good i thought, pretty informative, and of course resembled a 60 minutes/48 hours type broadcast. The graphics were okay, the shots inside the plane were pretty good, and served it's purpose...the main thing that i really really hated with the whole cg was that the planes crashing into the buildings didn't look realistic at all.....i know it was just a clip to show what happened...and i know it's hard to make any better....but it still looked very corny, imho.

Regardless, i still think it was pretty good, and i'm sure you got an A on it, ;).
